DOWNSTREAM is a collaborative process-oriented performance and ensemble integrating dance, performance, audio, video and streaming media by the faculty and students at California State University San Marcos. Through experiential workshops, we develope an approach to dance/movement based on its relationship to audio (microphones are attached to the dancers or props). The work consists of realtime, ambient, amplified and sampled audio produced by the dancers, performers, mixers and muscians. For the live performance we integrate realtime, closed circuit video. The work is performed in front of an audience and is also streamed live, to a virtual, listening audience. DOWNSTREAM MEDIA, 12/7/04 excerpt.
