Sport psychology
is a form of mental training often used to enhance an
athletic performance. Sport psychologists utilize
psychological principles in order to optimize sport
performance. Athletes are taught mental skills for use
in improving performance. Sport psychology can also
address possible factors that are preventing an athlete
from performing at his/her optimal level. These services
can occur through individual consultation, within small
