Hi!

My name is Kathy Blattner, and I’m a Family Nurse Practitioner  who has worked at CSUSM in the Student Health Center since 1998. My professional background includes many years of hospital nursing including 20 years in a busy local hospital Emergency Department.

My undergraduate degree is from SDSU, and I have Master’s degrees from both UCLA and USD.   I have worked in the areas of Women’s Health, Orthopedics, Dermatology,

Pediatrics and Family Practice in clinic settings. I have extensive experience educating and counseling patients and their families about a variety of medical conditions.

    On a personal level, I have (2) grown children and (1) grandson. My family is important to me, and we enjoy spending time together.  My other interests include outdoor activities such as hiking, traveling and biking. I enjoy reading, painting, sewing and trying new restaurants!

    I am passionate about, and deeply committed to, my role in healthy lifestyle promotion and disease prevention. I use a holistic, natural approach to my patient’s medical concerns while using Western medicine as needed. I believe a collaborative approach is best, and I respect each student’s perspective regarding their health care process. I support and augment each individual’s self-care practices with educational conversation  and informative handouts.
