| In my opinion receiving the MARC & RISE scholarships leads to life changing events. An OBRT scholar has access to graduate school preparation courses, academic advising, research preceptors, and a stipend. The program staff assists every student in building a graduate school application package that admission committees will notice. Perhaps most importantly students are given the opportunity to work with a research preceptor. Fortunately I had the pleasure of working in the laboratories of Dr. Kristan and Dr. Escobar. In their laboratories I learned various laboratory techniques, wrote & presented research projects, became independent, and grew as a person. Without the RISE/MARC scholarships I would not have the credentials necessary to have been recruited to attend graduate schools. | ||||
