Technology Elective Letter to Parents

Dear Parents and Students,

The technology elective has been developed to assist teachers, students and our community. Through technology grants, and other resources, equipment and materials have been purchased to be used in all classrooms, at L. R. Green School. In order to help teachers work with the equipment and materials in elementary classrooms, our grant specifies the development of student facilitators called M & Ms (Multimedia Mentor Students). These students also present to other schools and organizations in our community.

Technology Elective students will be trained to use a variety of technology equipment such as scanners, camcorders, digital cameras, computer, laser disc players, CD ROMs, robotics and modems. These students will assist students in various grades as well as assist teachers in classrooms with technology, develop projects, manuals, and do presentations. They will act as Multimedia Mentor Students (M & Ms) as specified in our school technology plan. This experience will allow students to develop leadership skills, communication skills, and acquire technical skills for their future.

Students will need to have a folder, paper, pen, pencil and separate computer disk for this class. These supplies will be used starting immediately. We will be planning a PTA technology fair night in May.

Please let me know if you have any questions and/or can provide assistance as a parent volunteer with this class. I have a parent that will be assisting with the class and will be looking for other parents to help supervise our projects.
