Introduction
No time for staff development? Need to attract new teachers
to your school district? Ready to use short video or audio clips to enhance your
curriculum? Interested in companies that offer streaming content delivery to
schools? Depending on your bandwidth, streaming media can help you do all this
and more! By using streaming media you can see and hear live broadcasts via the
web. Streaming media allows sound and video files to be divided into small
packets, delivering these packets in small streams to your computer. This
technology allows you to watch and hear a clip streamed or downloaded for later
use in a presentation. Visit some of the websites below to learn how schools of

'Radio Iditarod' and 'Video Iditarod!' Students reading Jack London's 'Call of
the Wild' or students following the Iditarod will enjoy these examples of
streaming media. In 1925 an epidemic of diphtheria hit Nome, Alaska. Medicine
was rushed from Nenama to Nome, about 675 miles by dog teams. The Iditarod
Dogsled Race is held to commemorate the historic run.

American Memory Viewer - 'The majority of American Memory collections can

videotapes, cassettes, or CDs at home, you need special viewers to see and
hear these historical materials.' This site has terrific information whether
you are viewing the Library of Congress streaming media or another source for
