CSU San Marcos Global Business Management students may study for one semester at Hong Kong Baptist University School of Business in Hong Kong as exchange students. Students in the Global Business Management Option are eligible to apply and will take classes approved by the Program Director. Other Business students may apply with the permission of their department chair or academic advisor.

Hong Kong Baptist University was founded in 1956 and is one of the best universities in the region. With about 6,000 students, HKBU offers excellent facilities and high quality instruction.

The School of Business has five departments: accountancy and law, finance and decision sciences, economics, management, and marketing. All classes are taught in English and students are encouraged to interact with their instructors.

The University also offers a wide range of clubs and extracurricular activities.

International students are housed on campus in a modern, high-rise residence with complete facilities.

Program Features

  • With prior approval, coursework will fulfill business major requirements.

  • Wide variety of classes offered in English.

  • On-campus residence for international students.

  • Basic Chinese language courses available as part of the exchange.

Fees and Expenses

  • Regular State University Fee paid to CSU San Marcos. No tuition at Hong Kong Baptist University.

  • Residence Halls: $170 per month. (Subject to change without notice. Please see Accommodation & Living Expense  for updates.)

  • Medical Insurance: $37 per month.

  • Cost of meals and personal expenses will vary, but average $500-$800 per month.

How to Apply

1. Visit the Hong Kong Baptist University website at www.hkbu.edu.hk to learn about the school.

2. Consult with the CSU San Marcos Study Abroad Advisor in Craven Hall 3200 to determine if you are eligible for this program.

3. Review the list of subjects available to exchange students. Consult with appropriate advisor in the College of Business Administration to determine if the HKBU courses will count toward your major. If so, complete a Study Abroad Credit Approval Form.

4. Obtain and complete an Exchange Student Application form from the Office of Global Education and submit it to the CSUSM Study Abroad Advisor in Craven Hall 3200 along with copies of all your academic transcripts.  The application can also be downloaded at HKBU - Student Exchange Programme Application .

5. Application Deadlines
     April 1 for Fall
     October 1 for Spring

Eligibility

  • Business Major.

  • Upper-division status (completion of 60 units) required for participation.

  • GPA of 2.75 or above.
