THE PROGRAM
A professional development
opportunity for teachers to experience. This two week
immersion in Mexican living & learning will give teachers new
insights and understanding for better teaching, especially those
with ESL students in their classrooms.
Practice your
Spanish while living in a family home in Guanajuato, Mexico.
This colonial town is nestled in the mountains east of Guadalajara,
and is the perfect setting to study Mexican culture and language.
You will attend three hours of classes of your choice each day at
Academia Falcón (www.academiafalcon.com),
join classmates for local tours, and enjoy the pace of living in
Mexico.
THE INSTRUCTOR
Carol Van Vooren,
Ed.D.,
is the Principal of
Jefferson Elementary School in the Carlsbad Unified School District.
Dr. Van Vooren has been an Adjunct Professor at CSUSM COE for more
than seven years. She received her Ed.D. from the University of
Laverne.
CREDITS
Students will earn 2 units of extension credit from
CSU San Marcos Extended Studies.

LOCATION:

Academia Falcon in Guanajuato, Mexico. Join classmates for

PROGRAM
FEE:
$1,250 for shared room
Program Fee includes shared room and board in
Guanajuato, insurance, language class, 2 local tours, transfers
from/to the Leon airport and 2 units of CSUSM credit based upon 20
teachers participating. Single room housing is an additional
$50.
Other Expenses not Included in Program Fee: Airfare: $400-500 (approximate)

HOUSING OPTIONS
Double room accommodations available with a
family in Guanajuato or program will assist in finding alternative
housing.
INSURANCE
Study
Abroad medical insurance is included in the Program Fee.
