The Study of Kids and Nature

Welcome back to the The Study of Kids and Nature!

We want to know how you think about nature and environmental problems.  Specifically, we want to know how what you do now (like playing video games) might affect how you think a bout nature and environmental problems.  We would also like to know how these thoughts change over time.

Professor Wesley Schultz is running the project.  He is a researcher at California State University, San Marcos.

You will be asked to fill out a survey and to play a computer game.  The survey and game will be completed via the internet and will take about 30 minutes to finish.  We will give you a similar survey and group of tests once a year for the next three years.

Your answers will be used for a scientific study and could be published in one or more scientific journals.  In order to match the answers of each child across time, we will be asking you to put your name on the survey. However, your responses will never be seen by anyone except our research team and all your answers will remain private.  The risk associated with this project is not more than the risk you would normally have by being in your classroom or working on a computer.  If you have any questions about your rights as a research participant you should ask your parent(s) or call the Institutional Review Board at (760) 750-4029.

Being in this study is voluntary.  You can stop being in this study at any time.
