New Mexico/Arizona
June, 2007
The pictures linked to this page are all from a trip to central New Mexico, with stops in Arizona, that I made in June, 2007. The main goal of this trip was to simply see and experience more of the West. I had covered part of the territory that is on this trip in a cross-country trip in about 1998, when I had found the areas around Globe, AZ and Carrizozo, NM particularly interesting. I also had heard many positive things about Bisbee, AZ and Gila National Forest (in New Mexico) over the years, and thus wanted to visit them. The basic loop of the trip is covered in the links below.
Overall it was a very good trip -- Bisbee was quite surprising, all the people I met in New Mexico were welcoming and pleasant to chat with, the scenery was spectacular, there were a number of interesting (and some depressing) technology and historic discoveries, and the camping was generally good.
Each picture below is linked to a set of pictures that are centered around one of the key areas on the trip -- click on the picture for details of the area.
