Later 1950's (part 2):

The first three pictures below were taken at a fish camp owned by Grandfather Barrett.  The fish camp was about 10 miles from our house and consisted of grandfather's house, two guest houses, a shed for outboard motors, an outhouse, two docks, a picnic pavilion, and a main building that had a bar, some tables, and a cement tank for holding live shrimp to be used as bait.  Most of the buildings were simply wood frames and aluminum siding placed on cement pads -- the outhouse was all wood.

I have mostly negative memories of our almost weekly trips to the fish camp.  I did not really enjoy fishing, the primary business of the fish camp seemed to be people coming over to drink beer and eat boiled eggs, my grandfather smoked and smelled like cigars most of the time, we were not allowed to go in his house and use the toilet if he wasn't there (we had to use the outhouse that had bee's nests), and I never got along with my grandfather.

There were dates on only a few of these photos, so I'm guessing that most were in the mid to late 50's.

This picture was stamped with a processing date of 1/55.  It was taken at the fish camp. (Note who's not carrying a gun)
My grandfather and his cigar.
Fishing from the dock was boring enough -- frequently we went out on the creek in boats, which was even more boring...
This was taken on Little Talbot Island.  Mother, someone else (my brother or a friend), and I are sitting next to the Kaiser reading the newspaper, while the rest are out fishing.
This is the last of the 'four boys' pictures that I have. I'm guessing this was taken in about '55, when our ages would have been 7, 11, 13, and 16.
