Exporting:
Once you are finished with your project and ready to create the final output, select File > Export. A pop-up menu will appear with some options.

There are three different ways that iMovie allows you to export your project. You can export to camera, iDVD, or QuickTime video.

  1. Exporting to camera allows you to have your project back on tape for viewing or backup.
If you select this option from the drop-down menu, make sure that your camera is connected and set to VCR mode prior to selecting the "Export" button.
Export to camera gives three additional options.
These options add seconds to the recording so that the camera is sure to pick up all of the project.
The defaults should be good enough, but you can add/subtract time to your needs.
  2. Export to iDVD will prepare the project for work in iDVD. If you plan to place your video on a DVD, this is a good choice.
  3. Exporting to QuickTime will give you an independent file that you can use in a DVD project or on the web depending on what format you choose.
The choice is yours.
