Minda Martin is an emerging award-winning documentary filmmaker whose films have shown widely in major international film festivals. Her work deals with the representation and possibilities of finding a voice for working class women, who are either largely absent from popular culture or reduced to tired stereotypes. In all her films, she hopes to engage viewers in questioning how they see under represented individuals and issues. Her work encourages viewers to open themselves up to redefinitions based on acknowledgement of power relations. Reviews of her films have appeared in The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The LA Weekly, The Village Voice and numerous other periodicals. Martin received her MFA in film/video from California Institute of the Arts. She has taught film and video production in Visual Arts Dept at Univ of Calif at San Diego, the Kumeyaay reservation, and internationally in Singapore. She is now an assistant professor at Cal State San Marcos in the Communication Department.
