THE UNIVERSITY AND OUR STUDENTS
Founded in 1989, California
State University San Marcos is the
20th campus to be established in the
23-campus CSU system. The University
is located in the foothills of
northern San Diego County in San
Marcos.
The institution offers the ambiance
of a small, personal campus with the
unequalled value of the California
State University. Students benefit
from the latest equipment and
facilities, a superb faculty that
enjoys teaching and a rigorous
academic program that prepares
students for a successful life.
Students from a broad range of life
experiences interact closely with
faculty. Programs are designed to
help students develop critical
skills for success as they pursue
careers and further education in a
technologically dynamic global
environment
Our
academic programs are famous for
their challenges, which produce
graduates who are well prepared for
today's work environment, and for a
future marked by change.
Students
must meet a tough writing
requirement in every class --
including the sciences. Assignments
direct students to work in teams,
preparing them for situations they
will face on the job. Students
prepare for a global economy by
demonstrating competence in a
language other than English. All
students must prove computer
competence and demonstrate the
ability to use technology to solve
problems. Finally, projects take our
students into the community for many
classes, providing them experience
in real-world situations and
nurturing a sense of social
responsibility. As a result, Cal
State San Marcos students graduate
ready to be productive, energized
employees who are intellectually
agile enough for a dynamic future.
In
sixteen years, the campus has
distinguished itself. The College of
Business Administration receives
national attention for the "Senior
Experience" Program, which takes
teams of students off campus for
consulting projects with local
companies and organizations.
Programs in the sciences and in
visual and performing arts are
regionally acclaimed for academic
rigor, innovation, and career
preparation. Programs in teacher
education are renowned for their
school and community collaboration.
