    Mission Statement

Our mission is to promote campus involvement by encouraging an active, healthy lifestyle and providing quality structural and informal recreational opportunities.  Excursions are intended to get people outdoors and have them recreate, while providing a safe, educational, and challenging environment that promotes personal growth, group cooperation and fun through outdoor activities.  Our programs ensure a positive environment in which all guests are treated with respect and dignity. These offerings will help facilitate a continuing effort to increase a sense of community among students at CalState San Marcos.

    Excursions

Monthly Excursions are put together by the Campus Recreation Staff and offered to students at a reduced rate.  Past events have included Ski/Snowboarding, Paintball, Padres Games, Laker Game, Sailing...  Students must sign up in advance and space is limited.  Be on the lookout for our next event and stop by the Cougar Rec Center to sign up!!!

    Choose Your Adventure (C-YA)!!!

In addition to our monthly excursions, we have an opportunity for students to submit an application for their own co-planned adventure.  The C-YA program is a chance for students to be creative, gain leadership skills, and do teambuilding.  A group can apply for up to $700 of ASI funds to help cover costs of an adventure that they plan.  Click the link above for an application and more details.

    LINKS TO OUR OTHER DEPARTMENTS

Leisure Courses  - ASI offers a selection of physical/recreational based free classes for students (faculty/staff may sign up for a fee for most) that are not readily available by the university.

Intramurals - ASI offers  competitive/non-competitive sports, unique health-related events, and resources for fitness information. Intramural programs and activities are open to all students, faculty, and staff regardless of skill level and competitive drive, and should affirm and enhance the following principles:

    • Healthy Living

    • Social Interaction

    • Leadership

    • Teamwork

    • Sportsmanship

Club Sports - ASI offers sports for those who are a little more competitive.  All team members must try out during open selection periods.  These teams are STUDENT lead clubs that center around a sport that is helped  administratively by ASI in many aspects.  Students can join an existing club or try to start their own with approval and assistance from ASI.  Please check out the site for more info on signing up or getting more information.
