  • CLUB SPORTS

For those who do not have the time or skill level to play scholarship collegiate sports, we offer an alternative to stay in shape, meet new friends, and compete against CSU San Marcos and other college students.  IM sports are as easy as signing up a team or coming in as a free agent and being picked up or put on a team.  Club Sports (8 currently; list below) are a little more competitive and you must try out during open selection periods.  These teams are STUDENT lead clubs that center around a sport that is helped  administratively by ASI in many aspects.  Students can join an existing club or try to start their own with approval and assistance from ASI.  Come by the Cougar Rec Center in person to sign up.

    Club Sports INFO

For some of us, having fun means competing. Even if you are completely new to a sport, you can have fun in a more competitive environment in Club Sports.
Sport Clubs are student operated and compete against other schools in Southern California. Some clubs also go on to compete for Regional or National Tournaments. This does not mean that you have to be a "superjock" to join. In many of our clubs, the members had little or no experience in the sport before making the team.
Getting involved in a Sport Club is as easy as making your intentions known. All you have to do is attend tryouts and make the team (different times throughout the semester. Levels of commitment vary from club to club, but you can expect two practices a week, a game or two per weekend and several fundraising activities per semester in addition to a participation fee of $100.  Participants in ASI Club Sports are expected to represent ASI and Cal State San Marcos with pride, integrity, and a positive competitive spirit. Composed and regulated by students, Club Sports are coordinated and assisted by ASI staff in the areas of governance, logistics, finance, and fundraising.

Fill out an interest form if you would like more info from a specific club

(please remember that tryouts are in late Spring and early Fall for most sports).
