Policy -- Items for the Employee Portal "My CSUSM"

  1. Portal listings are intended to provide faculty and staff with information from payroll, Human Relations and Equal Opportunity and other offices concerning matters related to their employment with the University. 
  2. Submitted items must relate to official activities of the University, its departments, centers, programs and auxiliaries.
  3. Items must be directed to faculty or staff of the university.
  4. Commercial items are not permitted. Items concerning partnerships between campus units and commercial enterprises will be considered individually.
  5. The number of items is not limited. However, the length of each item is limited to 100 words. If more information needs to be made available, we suggest that the item contain a link to a web site, which can contain as much information as necessary.
  6. Items should be submitted to publicity@csusm.edu. Normally, items will be posted within 24 hours.
  7. Items can be accepted in advance, but are not likely to be posted more than 10 days prior to an event or activity unless the item includes a request to register in advance, become involved in a planning committee, etc. Announcements may be used for one or two weeks, depending on the number of other items, but not continuously.

Policy – Items for In the Loop for Students

  1. “In the Loop” is intended for time-sensitive information that has not been used in printed communications vehicles.
  2. Items must be directed to students of the university.
  3. Items may be submitted by recognized student organizations or by university administrative units. The list of organizations maintained by the Office of Student and Residential Life shall be proof of recognition.
  4. Individual students seeking to form an organization may submit items with the approval of the Office of Student and Residential Life.
  5. Commercial items are not permitted. Items concerning partnerships between campus units and commercial enterprises will be considered individually.
  6. Each organization or project may submit one item each month. Each item can be used one time. Items will not be retained and must be resubmitted for each use.
  7. The length of each item is limited to 100 words. If more information needs to be made available, we suggest that the item contain a link to a web site, which can contain as much information as necessary.
  8. Items should be submitted to publicity@csusm.edu by the end of the day Thursday to be included in the message sent the following Friday afternoon.
  9. Items can be accepted in advance, but are not likely to be used more than 10 days prior to an event or activity unless the item includes a request to register in advance, become involved in a planning committee, etc. In such cases, the item will appear as an announcement rather than in the events section. Announcements may be used for one or two weeks, depending on the number of other items in the message, but not continuously.

Policy – The Cougar Channel

  1. Items must be directed to students of the university.
  2. Items may be submitted by recognized student organizations or by university administrative and academic units. The list of organizations maintained by the Office of Student and Residential Life shall be proof of recognition.
  3. Individual students seeking to form an organization may submit items with the approval of the Office of Student and Residential Life.
  4. Commercial items are not permitted. Items concerning partnerships between organizations and commercial enterprises will be considered individually.
  5. The number of items that can appear at one time is limited to 18. When there is more demand than space, older items will be retired to accommodate newer ones. Items related to upcoming events will have higher priority.
  6. Items must be brief, and the information submitted will be edited.
  7. Each organization or project may submit one item each month. Each item can be used for one week. Items will not be retained and must be resubmitted for each use.
  8. Items should be submitted to publicity@csusm.edu. Routine items can be posted no sooner than one day after submission.
