This page is the brainchild of Merryl Goldberg, Assistant Professor of Education at California State University, San Marcos. Its purpose is to provide a gateway for K-12 educators as they search for new ways to introduce their students to the arts. This page is an extension of the SUAVE Online program, developed by Professor Goldberg to enhance efforts to link education with the arts. Any comments or questions would be greatly appreciated.




National Endowment for the Arts (NEA)

The NEA is an independent agency of the Federal government charged with fostering the excellence, diversity and vitality of the arts in the United States and broadening public access to the arts.




Association for the Advancement of Arts Education (AAAE)

The AAAE is the direct result of a two year, comprehensive study which surveyed hundreds of superintendents, principals, teachers, parents, school board members, artists, professional arts administrators and community opinion leaders regarding their views on arts education. The study found a positive element for change in arts education priorities and programs in the Cincinatti, Ohio region.




The mission of the California Center for the Arts, is to encourage appreciation of the excellence, diversity, and vitality of the arts. It is located in Escondido, California.




Global SchoolNet Foundation

Since 1985 Global SchoolNet Foundation (GSN) has been a leader in the instructional applications of telecommunications. Today the Global SchoolNet Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, is a major contributor to the philosophy, design, culture, and content of educational networking on the Internet and in the classroom. GSN has had an incredible impact on networking in the K12 community.

The JASON Project

Founded in 1989 by Dr. Robert D. Ballard this project is developing ways that would enable teachers and students all over the world to take part in global explorations using advanced interactive telecommunications.

International Kids' Space

Kids' Space was launched in March of 1995 as a personal home page at Interport Communications. The site has rapidly developed into many sections including creative activities, communication pages, and sections for learning basic computer skills. The site has generated a world-wide following with readers from over 115 countries and a huge number of hits.





KidLit

This site is designed for kids and for adults interested in quality children's literature.
