Summer Bridge: (s m r - brij) n. (1) An intensive, six-week summer transition program that provides first year SSS & EOP students with instruction in writing, math, study skills, and college success strategies. (2) Includes activities and fieldtrips to promote community building and cultural awareness. |

10 Reasons why you should attend Summer Bridge:
(1) Earn 3 units of college credit (GEL 101).
(2) Complete the 1st semester of your math requirement, or receive instruction to prepare you for your fall math course.
(3) Develop college-level writing skills.
(4) Improve study skills and strategies.
(5) Learn computer skills to fulfill the CSUSM computer competency requirement.
(6) Meet staff and faculty who are committed to your education.
(7) Become part of a first year learning community that will help you succeed at CSUSM.
(8) Learn how to effectively use the CSUSM library.
(9) Make new friends.
(10) Learn about yourself and what you can accomplish.

SOME THINGS TO CONSIDER:
If you are eligible for Federal Financial Aid and complete a current FAFSA (Financial Aid Application), the costs of Summer Bridge (classes, books, special activities) may be covered.
If you are not eligible for financial aid due to residency status or family income, some costs will be covered (books, special activities, some classes); however you will be responsible for the cost of one CSUSM course (GEL 101).
Any student with an ELM score between 0-38 will be required to pay the tuition and fees for a Palomar College math course.
If you drive a car to Summer Bridge, you will be required to pay for on-campus parking.
On-campus housing is not available for Summer Bridge.
Work obligations must be scheduled on Fridays and weekends.

To attend Summer Bridge, you must:
Be accepted to CSUSM as a 1st year Student.
Be accepted to SSS or EOP.
Take the ELM (Entry Level Math Test) and the EPT (English Placement Test).
Complete and return the Summer Bridge Application.
