Professor of Biological Sciences (Ph.D., 1977: University of
Toronto). Dr. Sheath’s research interests focus on aquatic biology with
emphasis on the evolution, ecology, biogeography and systematics of the
algae and their use as water quality indicators. This research involves a
combination of field and laboratory work, including advanced microscopy and
molecular analyses. Dr. Sheath is also the current Editor-in-Chief of the
Journal of Phycology, one of the most cited journals in the field and
aquatic botany in general.
